One of the best collections from SA Fashion Week overall was by Chinese designer Chu Yan titled "A date with a thousand years", the collection was greatly influenced by Chinese dressing tradition (view the collection here). The show took place on Day 3 of fashion week; global designers like Chu Yan and Edda Gimnes were quite refreshing to see amongst our local designers at SAFW.
Another show worth talking about was JJ Schoeman & Sun Goddess, the show was opened by a plus sized model that had the crowd cheering with delight. On the other hand, one would think that regular sized women would be a norm on the runways by now particularly in Africa but that's a blog post for another day.
This wraps up my coverage for SAFW women's wear; menswear kicked off on day 4 and closed things up on day 5. You can view all collections on the SAFW YouTube page here.
