THE RETURN OF THE MOM JEAN

About 2 or 3 years ago there were murmurs in the trend forecasting industry that skinny jeans would come to an end. Of course this was only speculation but I refused to believe it and held onto my skinnies for dear life. Although skinny jeans remain a staple item in most of our closets, the denim industry is constantly evolving.

When it comes to fashion trends, I consider myself to be an early adopter; not necessarily in the sense that I adopt every new trend in my personal style but I'm very much aware of current and future trends.

The day I walked into Topshop and stumbled upon these jeans I was immediately intrigued. Sure mom jeans have been in season for a while but I struggled to find a pair that was the perfect wash but most importantly a pair that fit me perfectly. The wash of these jeans have a vintage feel; as if I stepped back into the 80's to purchase the perfect pair of jeans.

When I showed these to my mom she had flashbacks of the good old days when these were the hottest item to hit the fashion scene. Funny enough when I threw them into the laundry, our housekeeper mistakenly packed them with my brothers laundry. I went mad looking for them and eventually when I found it I had a little giggle, wondering if they made me look like a boy.

Styling this look was a breeze. I received this black cut-out top from Witchery as a birthday gift which is currently one of my favourite items. By now you're probably over these Stecy shoes by Steve Madden which I've purchased in just about every colour. I finished my look off with colourful sunglasses and a little fringe.

Hope you enjoy!Β
