Spring is coming in with a bang this year, in fact it feels like we might skip it altogether and head straight into summer. The weather in South Africa is everything, we basically get 8 to 9 months of summer. We’re blessed with beautiful sunlight on most days, even in the winter months, . I haven’t switched to my summer wardrobe just yet, I’d like to hold onto my boots just a little longer.

When the weather transitions from one season to another, figuring out what to wear can be challenging. It’s not quite as cold anymore but you can’t ditch your winter wardrobe completely. So I’ve come up with three helpful tips to get you through the next two weeks:

Keep it light

When I created this floral print bodysuit, I wanted to make sure that I get as much wear as possible out of it. It’s the perfect item to layer in winter or wear as a statement piece in summer. You can easily take this look from sunny days into chilly nights with your favourite coat. The key to transitional wear is to keep your look light and simply layer on pieces as and when you need to.

Stockings are your best friend

I’ve grown to love a good mini in all seasons and I won’t allow bad weather to come between me and my love for the perfect mini. The game has drastically changed for stockings; it can be found in every colour with embellishments like glitter, beads, pearls etc. this definitely is no longer your mother’s bare beige sheer hosiery. Stockings can be so much fun and it’s the perfect way to ease into your little dresses, skirts and even shorts while there’s still a chill in the air.

Show your booties some love

I tend to wear boots regardless of the season; it’s become a staple in my wardrobe. I’ve slowed down on purchasing knee and thigh high boots because I don’t get as much wear as I’d like to out of them. It’s all about the mid-length boot for me right now; it’s perfect with long bottoms like jeans or with your favourite mini. I’ve even seen it worn with calf length skirts and dresses, in fact I might just rock that look before it gets too warm. The key to a good pair of boots is comfort, make sure you get a heel that you’re comfortable with or simply opt for a cute flat option.

I hope these tips help you navigate your way from winter to spring seamlessly!
