Todays post might come across as a bit of a history lesson. You may have noticed that culottes have made its way back into mainstream fashion and I'm all over it. To really understand a trend, its important for us to take a step back to its place of origin (see, I told you... history lesson). The term 'culotte' was originally used to describe men's knee-length breeches worn by European gentlemen in the upper class during the middle ages.
However, as most things go in today's world, women took over and claimed culottes as their own. Today it is described as a woman's skirt that's split down the middle to create pants; the main objective is for women to maintain their femininity while performing activities or for some of us, just to look great.
I wore this look to a wedding that I attended recently, normally I'd opt for a dress but I decided to try something different. I paired my culottes with a lace leotard and this beautiful blanket cape. To finish this look off I added rose gold jewellery, nude heels and a clutch.
Have a great weekend!
