"Don't work 8 hours for a company then go home and not work on your own goals. You're not tired, you are uninspired"
The past two weeks has been rather dramatic to say the least. The day before I began my first day back at work for 2016, I fell completely sick. Body aching, head throbbing, throat screeching kind of sick and it caught me completely by surprise. I dragged myself to the emergency room and to my surprise I'd been diagnosed with a violent case of tonsillitis; an infection so bad that I was immediately admitted and spent two nights in hospital, all this just days before my birthday (I told you it was dramatic). Nonetheless, I was discharged a day before my birthday and spent it with close relatives, high on antibiotics and pain medication.
Today was my first day back at work, however it felt like I'd been gone for a year. It just goes to show, life surely does go on and time waits for no woman. Although most of my time off was spent in bed nursing my sore throat, I had ample time to think and readjust my mind which is what the new year is about after all. I'm somewhat grateful that I was forced into doing absolutely nothing for a few days, that's when clarity is most rife. I spent my days watching inspirational videos on YouTube, one that stuck with me was Steve Jobs' Commencement Speech to the graduates of 2005 at Stanford. "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life". These words gave me chills down my spine and since then, I've vowed to follow my dreams and seize every single opportunity that comes my way and so should you. Life certainly has an odd sense of humour.
About this look
This look is all about the shoes. I feel young and playful when wearing flats; hence the jungle gym scenery. However, flats are getting all the attention in the fashion world lately. More and more girls are opting for flats as opposed to skyscrapers, it's so much more comfortable and can be oh so chic with the right outfit. I paired these shoes with finely pleated pants, a bodysuit for even more comfort and an unconventional clutch bag (texture overload); finishing it off with a sultry dark lip.
Hope you enjoy!
