It was a somewhat chilly morning but that didn't keep every fashionista in town from heading down to the Level Three rooftop in Marlboro for the much anticipated Sunglass Hut Reflections Fashion Forum. The discussion was focused around ‘Individualism’ and how this challenges the age-old tradition of trend in the world of fashion. The excitement began when Dion Chang, founder of trends company Flux Trends presented a video on the Amazon Drone, which will change our approach to retail in the future.
The conversation continued with a panel discussion around the influence of digital influencers versus print media and how one cannot exist without the other. Present on the panel were Emilie Gambade, Editor for Elle Magazine and Trevor Stuurman, Street-Style Photographer & Creative. Social media lawyer Emma Sadleir took the conversation to the next level with a hard-hitting presentation on the legal ramifications on social media behaviour which, provoked a great deal of thought to those of us who choose to share a great deal of our lives on social media.
The afternoon was concluded by a cutting piece titled Reflections delivered by slam-poet Nova and as we all enjoyed a light lunch together, we got to reflect on how each of us in that room can make a contribution towards bettering the South African fashion industry.
Hope you enjoy!
